Dune Brothers: Pioneers in Pier to Table

Dune Brothers, a local institution with three locations and more planned, was launched in 2017 with a grant from the 195 Project Fund. The grant covered the restaurant’s initial startup expenses as part of a placemaking initiative in the 195 District that sought to activate the District while the first buildings were underway. The District also received a Brownfields grant to pay for site remediation work, ensuring the location was ready for development. This strategic investment helped create a vibrant dining destination in the area.

This innovative restaurant is focused on a “pier to table” concept, emphasizing sustainable fishing practices by serving underutilized fish and supporting small, local fishermen. Today Dune Brothers is thriving and expanding into new locations and ventures, including a fish market in Fox Point, an East Providence location, and the new Track 15 food hall. Their success has not gone unnoticed—they were recently named 2024 James Beard Award semifinalists and have garnered significant media attention, including a feature in the Boston Globe.
